Raechelle A. D’Sa is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering in the School of Engineering at the University of Liverpool.
Raechelle completed her BSc (Honours) in Chemistry and Biology at the University of Toronto. She then went on to undertake a Masters in Organic Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University. This was followed by a short break in academia, during which time she obtained industrial experience as a research chemist at a contract research company (TDA Research, Inc., Golden, CO, USA). She subsequently came to the UK to obtain her PhD in Biomaterials. Her dissertation was on the surface modification of medically relevant polymers for increased biocompatibility at the University of Ulster. She went on to carry out postdoctoral research focusing on the study of mammalian and bacterial cells with surfaces structured at the nanometer scale. She joined the University of Liverpool as a lecturer in July 2013.
Raechelle’s field of expertise is in Antimicrobial Biomaterials. Her group aims to develop new antimicrobial solutions to treat infections without the use of antibiotics.
